Branding yourself is another trend that is starting to gain popularity on the World Wide Web. The massive following of blogs social media sites and other similar platforms is an indication that promotion of oneself or the individual rather than the company is what Net users are interested in. Nowadays anybody can be an instant celebrity through YouTube and be instant experts just by maintaining blogs making eBooks or submitting articles in various online directories. Moreover people are beginning to treasure and take interest in the personal aspects. So how can you best market yourself to other people on the Internet?
The first step is to grow your network. Join social media sites and invite friends and family to join your networks. In the Internet people are always asking “what is in it for me?” So if you want to have tons of followers you have to provide quality information and fresh content. It is also important that you stay consistent. Simply opening an account is not enough to become popular. Branding yourself is not easy. You have to work hard to earn your reputation. Simply participating in forums dropping comments asking questions and even sharing experiences will slowly but surely help in making you popular in the forums that you are a member of. After a few weeks or months people will start considering you as an expert in the field and they will be the ones seeking you out or inviting you to join their networks. Some Internet gurus started in forums and suddenly found themselves being invited in talks seminars and many other speaking engagements. If you reach this status many people will start to follow your blogs and eventually buy the products or services that you are offering.
Even if you are just starting to market yourself and you do not have that much experience it is still a good idea to start joining popular forums and high PR jobs. Although there are many social networking sites it is best for you to join the ones that have millions of members so your potential of becoming big on the Internet is so much greater. Proper positioning is also another important thing to add in a branding yourself strategy.
